How to Store a Memory Foam Mattress

Memory foam mattresses, more than regular mattresses, are special and preferred by many because it adjusts its shape to the person’s. Instead of the cushion pushing the back or side of the person lying down, it adapts the shape and supports the body of the person, making it more comfortable for him and beneficial to his posture. The foam takes five minutes to adapt to the person’s shape. During this period, it uses body heat to conform to fit the person.

Dos and Don’ts in Storing a Memory Foam Mattress

Do cover it with plastic mattress bag from end to end. Make sure to tape the ends so that no hole is present. This is to make sure that while it is in store, it is free from insects and pests. Make sure to check every corner and every side such that there are no holes. If there are, block the holes with tapes. This also prevents dirt, dust, and moisture to stick to the mattress.

Plastic mattress bags are available in the market. You can also use a mattress box in addition to the bag for maximum protection of your mattress.

Don’t store the mattress on its side. It is unable to support itself in this position; therefore, position it flat on the floor. If you lie your mattress on its side, the bottom part may contract. If too long, it will be hard to set it back to its original shape and may permanently have lumps.

Don’t Put Anything on Top

Yes, don’t put any object on top of your mattress especially for a long time. As said previously, it adapts to the shape of the person or anything that lies on it. If too long, the mattress may remain in such shape permanently.
