Fiberbed toppers are also commonly known as down alternative toppers. Due to their softness, these toppers are used over a firm and hard mattress to make it softer and comfortable. These toppers are also one of the most inexpensive toppers available in the market. Initial odor is also minimal. The support is not much that often makes it difficult to use for people with weight. Users also need to fluff it to get the required loft and support.
How it is Constructed?
Fiberbed is mostly made up of polyester fiber with cotton cover in most cases. Some fiberbed toppers are also filled with down alternative puffball.
Health and Safety
Even though, it is as effective for back or shoulder pain as some other topper types, but it is rated high for reducing pressure-point discomfort significantly. Fiberbed is also rated as a better option for people with allergy issues.
Firmness
Firmness is not as good as latex and memory foam. They are considered softer mattress toppers and usually used to add softness to harder mattress.
Pros
Fiberbed toppers are considered as the most inexpensive mattress toppers. It is also rated high for pain relief especially in reducing pressure-point discomfort. For back pain relief, they are not as good as latex, memory foam or other firm toppers types. They are also easy to move on with less resistance to movement. Complaints related to noise are also minimal. Reported issues related to odor are also less than any other mattress topper. Durability is also good if not excellent as they tend to compress with time especially if used by people with weight. There are also very limited complaints about heat issue.
Cons
Fiberbed are not couple friendly as they fail to isolate movement that disturbs partner in bed. They are also not as supportive as latex and memory foam. Clumping and lumpiness is also a major complaint especially after washing. Even though, thinner fiberbeds are lightweight, but as thickness increases, it becomes heavy. Another major concern raised by the users is need of constant fluff and shake to keep it in shape. Appearance of the bed may also look like lumpy or uneven after placing on the bed.
Lifespan and Warranty
Lifespan and warranty is almost equal to other common toppers that usually ranges from 2 to 5 years but machine wash can significantly reduce the lifespan of fiberbed mattress.
Cleaning and Maintenance
They are not easy to maintain and clean as it is considered often as the main disadvantage. In many cases, machine wash and machine dry can make the topper unusable.
Price Range
Fiberbed are the cheapest toppers available in the market. You can find a topper for as low as $40 and a maximum of $125. For an average price of $60, you can get a good quality topper.
